| Immature Stages
  of Philanthinae  Detailed information on immature stages of Sphecidae
  (Philanthinae) is being acquired.  However,
  Clausen (1940) noted that the egg is deposited ventrally on the thorax of
  prey that has been attained by the parents. 
  The larvae are thought to be unable to develop to maturity upon bees
  that have not first been deprived of their burden of honey.  A greater number of bees are killed than
  can be utilized in stocking the nest.     References:
